Giving Tuesday

It’s the perfect time to support
Arts Education

Each month, TOSS serves over 1,000 students in the public school system through workshops that connect art with relevant literary, cultural, or STEAM based themes. Arts education is core to student development and we want to grow this program for more students!

Why all the artsy hullabaloo?

Unfortunately, we only have 1 art teacher in our 14 public elementary schools in Burke County, NC. We advocate for the visual arts and know it’s a powerful agent of change. Check it:

🧮 It adds up: Students who have art exposure are 4X more likely to be recognized for academic achievement, 3X more likely to win an award for school attendance, 3X more likely to be elected to class office, and 4X more likely to participate in a math and science fair.
🎓 Students with high arts participation and low socioeconomic status have a 4% percent dropout rate (as compared to 22% for students in the same bracket with no art).
👔 72% of business leaders say creativity is the number one skill they are seeking when hiring.
🧠 Exposure to the arts for just two hours every week can drastically improve mental health and overall well-being.
