Miki Iwasaki and Forest Hill Elementary

Forts and Hideouts
Miki Iwasaki will be leading an exercise with students at Forest Hill as a means to engage our community around the redesign project of our Historic Downtown Square.

Students will be making spaces by modifying and decorating cardboard boxes, sheets, paper, furniture objects and or other materials. The intention is to have the children create spaces and see how they want to be hidden/exposed, scale of intervention, transparency, light, access etc. The characteristic can be used as cues in terms of how to guide the shaping of the artwork.

To participate in this closed event as a volunteer, fill our a volunteer form for the Burke County Public School System:

Art/RE/Art

How can art promote important conversations? Join us at Art/Re/Art to think about the future of waste, together.

China used to be the recycling mecca of the world. However, on December 31, 2017, a new policy, “National Sword” abruptly closed the doors for recycling waste exported by G7 countries to China and Hong Kong…collapsing prices of plastic scrap and low-grade paper, as a result.
