Saturday, Sept 26th, 10AM-2PM:
TOSS artists Lowther and Ervin will be tossin' up on the square for a collaborative art project Saturday the 26th. The result of this "art happening" will be a public art piece hosted in downtown Morganton, 2016. Come by and participate!
This will be apart of Revolutionary war week, y'all:
Historic Burke Foundation's Revolutionary War Week is a celebration of the Revolutionary History of Burke County. Over several days, we will host, along with the Overmountain Trail Association and others: crafting demonstrations, lectures, music, food and dance.
The following images:
+ Check out the material we will be using to embroider the council oak (right now serving as a backdrop for my studio)
+ One of the few images we have of the actual oak before it was struck by lightening in 1904
+ Our inspiration: Madame Magars Makeshift Studio project: A endeavor of LEIGH MAGAR of Johns Island, SC. Magar sets up studios all over the Southern States and makes. Her primary medium is textiles and she is a seasoned and well-respected hat maker, well known in Charleston and New York where she formerly sold her items to Vogue, Martha Stewart, and Garden & Gun, Barneys NY & Isetan, Japan.
